This is where we would meet in 2007 By 2008 we were meeting in Mount Pleasant School

Living Springs Ministries came into operation in February 2007 after the Lord spoke to Pastor Alex in 2005. Through a number of revelations, the Lord instructed Pastor Alex to “Bring all Nations to the Living Word” who is Jesus Christ. He was shown a globe sitting on a Bible, which became the official logo of the ministry. The Lord subsequently showed him the conversation of Jesus Christ and the Samaritan woman in John 4. In this discourse, Jesus revealed himself to the woman as the living water, the answer to everyman’s thirst for spiritual reality and eternal life. Jesus made the woman realise that He alone can satisfy the thirst of our souls.  From this revelation, the ministry’s name Living Springs Ministries was born.

Pastor Alex, after receiving this call spent considerable length of time praying and waiting upon the Lord for direction, timing and place to start the ministry. As time went on the call and the vision became clearer as the Lord crystallised a 5-fold vision for the ministry. Subsequently, Pastor Alex, his wife Ama and children started a weekly Bible Study in their living room, which attracted a few individuals who came to study and fellowship with them regularly. This carried on for 6 months as they prayed for guidance and directions on the next steps.

After 2 years of nurturing the vision, Living Springs Ministries was publicly born on Sunday 18th February, 2007 in an inauguration and dedication service which was held at the Market Weighton School. This service was attended by many people from the many places in the United Kingdom from the south in Berkshire, London, Nottingham, Sheffield, York as far as Aberdeen in the to the north of Scotland. The ceremony were officiated by Pastor Alex’s former ministers and colleagues including Rev. Graham Hutchinson, Elim Pentecostal Church, York who preached the message for the day and the late Rev. John Strachan, Assemblies of God Church, Aberdeen, who did the induction and commitment of Pastor Alex and his family to the demands of the call into ministry.

The core principle of the ministry is “building relationships and developing Christ-like people” who want to serve and see others come to experience the love of God.

Since 2007, the ministry has experience many blessings, build the foundations of many believers and enjoyed the favour of God, as it constantly seeks to reach out and be a blessings to the local community. The ministry has engaged in a number of the regular activities over the period including, provision of recreational and entertainment opportunities to the local youths aimed at getting them to move away from life limiting choices; mediation, advice and support for parents and their teenage children, annual summer community BBQs for families, community clean up campaigns with other churches, providing practical and material support to needy families in the area. In November 2007, the church was invited by the management of Mount Pleasant CE Junior School to come and use their main hall, where we met nearly one year.

Dr. Appiah has a strong heart and desire to build up the wider Church of Jesus Christ and encourage the local churches to be a good witness of Christ to our community. On Monday 5th May, 2008, following an instruction from the Lord, he motivated and persuaded the local church leaders and their members, particularly some who had been divided for a long time due to differences on issues, to assemble for the first time for a day of prayer for one another, the local churches and the whole area, in an event he called “Prayer Summit”, taking the call to prayer from the Prophet Joel’s declaration “Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children...” – Joel 2:15-19.

This event has been carried on as an annual event to date. The assembled believers repented, forgave one another and cried out for the Lord to revive His church. The Lord’s mercy and favour was gloriously on the event such that an elderly gentleman remarked after the meeting “I have lived here for more than 30 years and I can truly say today has been the best day of my stay in the area.” The church in the area needs unity and prayer for God's mercy and grace to be poured our the land and bring people back into a relationship with God, blessings and prosperity to the people. Let the Church of Jesus Christ in the nation arise and be united in proclaiming the Goodnews of the Kingdom!

alex 001Towards the end of the 2008, the Lord impressed on Pastor Alex’s heart to take the then small congregation away for an end of year retreat, a time for His children to receive a refreshing from His presence for the coming year as directed in in Acts of the Apostle 3:19 “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” The 2-day first retreat took place at Bawtry Hall, near Doncaster. This annual retreat has grown in the ministry’s annual flagship 3-day programme called Time of Refreshing Conference, which is currently held in October. This conference has drawn participants from all over the Yorkshire and beyond with invited speakers coming from as far afield as the United States of America. The 2011 conference saw some notable healings and restoration in the lives of participants as well as the church, for which we are eternally grateful to the Lord for His blessings.

The ministry which started from a very humble beginning meeting at the Scout Hut, in Market Weighton has seen a great blessing from God and touched the lives of so many people. we could not find any suitable place of meeting. Weekly services continued at the Scout Hut until  Towards the end of 2008, the ministry acquired a lease and moved into a centrally located building on the high street which we called "The Life Centre".
